Mary was born in 1634 in Braintree, Norfolk, MA.1 Mary's father was Samuel Allen and her mother was Ann Whitmore. Her paternal grandparents were George Allen and Katherine Unknown; her maternal grandfather was John Whitmore. She had three brothers and a sister, named Samuel, Nehemiah, James and Sarah. She was the second oldest of the five children. She had a half-sister named Abigail.-
