Narrative

[hgfjh.FTW]

Much of the information in this study can be found in the EDGECOMBE COUNTY KINFOLKS BY J. W. Watson and in the petition of the heirs of John Fountaion, Jr. dated 26 Nov. 1801 on file in the State Archives, Raleigh N.C. I am referring to the info. about John the Elder and his son John jr. and his immediate descendents.

As Mrs. Oliver states, it is not proven that William, Solomon and David were the sons of John the Elder but the evidence seems to indicate that that is true. The material used is from an unpublished de la Fontaine genealogy in the Sutro Library in San Francisco, Ca. Edgecombe Coutny Kinfolks by J.W. Watson and Dead Book d, John & Kesiah Cotton to Henry Irvin; Witness: David Fountain dated 11-8-1773 & Deed book 4, David Fountain to Thomas Hambleton, 1786, etc.
