Obituary, The State paper, Monday, July 3, 2000
Joe Riddle
Leesville -- Services for Joe Alvin Riddle, 68, will be held at 3 p.m.
Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Union Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Smith
and Rev. John Griffith officiating. Burial will be in the church
cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 this evening at Charles
R. Shealy & Son Funeral Home of Battesburg-Leesville. Memorials may be
made to Union Lutheran Church, 4077 Hwy. 378, Lesville, American Heart
Association of S.C., American Diabetes Association of S.C., or you local
DAV chapter.
Mr. Riddle died Sunday, July 2, 2000. Born near Leesville, he was son
of the late Alvin D. and Ollie Holley Riddle. He was a member of Union
Lutheran Church, VFW 6740, DAV, Hollywood Ruritan Club, Saluda County
Soil Conservation, and worked with the 4-H Club in Saluda Co. for a
number of years. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army
as M.P. He was a farmer and salesman for Virgtone Co. for 30 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mary C. Boland Riddle; children, Kendall Riddle,
Sheila Riddle, Cristy Riddle, Terry Jo Riddle, all of Leesville; sisters,
Doris Hite of Batesburg, Evelyn Hall of Leesville; brothers, Rev. Ralph
Riddle of Chapin, Paul Riddle of Leesville; grandchildren, Holly and
Charles Hall; great grandchild, Terry Colton Riddle. Mr. Riddle was
predeceased by a son, Terry A. Riddle, and by brothers Glenn and Ray
Riddle.
