Jesse S. Ballentine, Sr.

Jesse Sidney Ballentine Sr., 83, a retired secretary-treasurer of the
Walterboro National Farm Loan Association, died Monday at Lowman Home in
White Rock.

Born in Lexington County, he was a son of the late Silas Jesse and Mary
Long Ballentine. He was a choir member and former member of the Church
Council at Good Shopherd Lutheran Church in Walterboro.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lucille Ballentine; a son, J.S. Ballentine
Jr. of Columbia; a daughter, Mrs. William F. (Beth) Hanks Jr. of
Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, G. Heber Ballentine of White Rock; eight
grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be 3:30 p.m. today at Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street
Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. J. Kenneth Webb of Columbia and the
Rev. Don Nolt of Walterboro. Burial will be in Woodridge Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Paul H. Long, John L. and J. Elton Kaiser, Dr. Conrad
B. Park, Dr. Harold F. Park and Allen Crosson.

The family suggests that those who wish may make memorials to the Lowman
Home in White Rock.
