Jay Nichols
Newberry - Funeral services for John "Jay" Nichols, 85, of 3259 College
St., will be ehdl at 2 p.m. Monday at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church with
burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-5
p.m. today at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials
be made to Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church.
Mr. Nichols, husband of the late Sara Kinard Nichols, died Saturday, June
14, 1997. Born in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mallie
Sease Nichols. He retired from Southwest Forest Products, was a member
of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church where he was a former church councilman
and life member of the Lutheran Church Men. He was an Army veteran of
World War II and member of Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are son, Wilbur A. Nichols of Newberry; sisters, Evelyn
Connelly of Prosperity, Sadie Felker and Dorothy Counts, both of
Newberry; brother, J. Emmett Nichols of Batesburg; three grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren.
