Leland Summer Sr.
Chapin - Services for Leland S. Summer Sr., 96, of 603 Peak St., Chapin,
will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chapin Baptist Church, Chapin, with
entombment in Newberry Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Newberry. The family
will receive friends from 4-6 tonight at Caughman-Harman Funeral Homes,
Chapin Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Summer died Saturday, Dec 13, 1997. Born in Lexington County, he was
a son of the late James R. and Ava Sease Summer. He was a graduate of
Newberry College, a founding member of Chapin Baptist Church and was a
retired public school teacher and administrator.

Surviving are daughter, Nancy S. Mack of Monroe, N.C.; sons, Leland S.
Summer Jr. of West Columbia and James B. Summer Sr of Chapin; nine
grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a
daughter, Betty S. Martin.
