The C. in her name is said to be Coleman so she would seemed to have been named after her great grandmother the wife of William Fountain...Elizabeth Coleman Fountain...this from Mrs. Wellborn Jack of Shreveport La. who had it from Capt. Clyde F. O'Neal of Walnut Creek, California who wrote to say that a Mary Coleman Fountain appeared in the Fountain Bible which But no Mary is mentioned in Sarah Jane Lide Fountain's Diary of the trip west from S.C. after the death of her husband...The Lides Go South and West edited by Fletcher Moss and published by the University of S.C. Press in 1952. There are letters in that small publication that are from an Elizabeth C. Fountain..one is listed as from Eliz. C. Fountain to Hannah L. Coker of Society Hill S.C. on Aug. 3, 1836 from Nubbin Ridge Ala. This gives us some help in determing that Coleman was the last name of William J. Fountains wife.
