Narrative

[SUSANNA KEENE.FTW]

Louis was removed from throne in 833 but restored 834

Louis I 'The Pious', Emperor Of The Holy Roman Empire in 814
succeeded his father Charlemagne. In 817, he arranged for the
succession after his death by dividing the empire among his
three sons. After his first wife died, Louis married again, and
a
fourth son, Charles, was born. Louis redivided his empire in
829 in order to give Charles a share. The older sons resented
the new division and revolted. Louis was removed from the
throne in 833, but was restored the next year. The bitter
struggle
between his sons continued until Louis died.

The name Louis means 'famous warrier'.
