Her paternal grandparents were Gwerystan ap Gwaethfoed and Nesta verch Cadell; her maternal grandfather was Maredudd ap Owain Prince of Deheubarth. She had two brothers and a sister, named Bleddyn, Rhiwallon and daughter. She was the oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother named Gruffydd ap Llywelyn.-
