Richard II was born in 0962.1 Richard II's father was Richard I of Normandy and his mother was Gunnor. His paternal grandparents were William I "Longsword" and Sprota; his maternal grandfather was [?]. He had a sister named Emma. He had two half-sisters named Hawise and Fredesendis. (2) Astrid (Margaret), daughter of King Swen of Den mark; m. (3) ca. 1024 Poppa. He had many children by (1) and (3) . By Judith he had Robert I, Duke of Normandy.
