Berenger I's father was Eberhard of Friuli and his mother was Gisela. His paternal grandparents were Hunroch of Friuli and Engeltron; his maternal grandparents were Louis I of France and Judith of Bavaria. He was an only child.1 General Notes

Suppo's father was Maurin , Pfalzgrave; a Salic Frank who held lands in Parma, Reggio, an d Piacenza, 835-844.
