Hugh was born in 1880.1 Hugh's father was J.Brooks Swygert and his mother was Mary Alice Sease. His maternal grandparents were Asa Melanthion Sease and Mary Eliza Epting. He had three brothers named Thomas Irvin, Darcey and Shell.-
