Jake Slice 
Jake was born about 1919 in Lexington County, South Carolina.1 Jake's father was James J. Slice and his mother was Carrie Lee Boland. His maternal grandparents were Patrick Boland and Claton Alice Bowers. He had four brothers and a sister, named Mendell, Robert, Sam, John and Mary Helen. He died on August 28th, 2000. Jacob Slice
Newberry -- Services for Jacob W. "Jake" Slice, 81, of Halfacre Rd., will
be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2000 at Enoree Baptist Church by
the Rev. George Leagans. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The
family is at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Junior Roper, 1807 Rivers St.
and will receive friends from 7-8 this evening at McSwain-Evans Funeral
Home.
Mr. Slice, widower of Dorothy Moates Slice, died Monday. Born in
Lexington, Mr. Slice was a son of the late Jim and Carrie Boland Slice.
He retired from Kendall Company, Oakland Plant after 37 years of service
and was a member of Enoree Baptist Church.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Kay Slice of
Pomaria; daughters and son-in-law, Denise Summer, Janice and Junior Roper
of Newberry; sister, Mary Helen Hyler of Newberry; brother, Mendall Slice
of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
