George W. was born in July 1877 in Florida.1 George W.'s father was James H. Koon and his mother was Mary J. Unknown. His paternal grandparents were Absalom Koon and Lavinia A. Taylor. He had five brothers named Marilus, Benjamin M., Julius, James J. and Venderbilt. He was the oldest of the six children.-
