Count of Evereux, Seigneir de Montfort [Ref: CP VII p715]
being a vassal of both the King of France and the King of England (as
Duke of Normandy) his position was embarassing when his two suzerains
were at war in 1159. He adhered to England, and handed over his castles
of Rochefort, Montfort, and Epernon to Henry II, which forced Louis to make a
truce by cutting his communications between Paris, Orleans, and Etampes [Ref:
CP VII p715]
1173: joined the revolt of the "young King" but was captured when the
Count of Flanders took the castle of Aumale [Ref: CP VII p715]
