Alice was born about 1136 in of Harringworth, Northamptonshire.1 Alice's father was Philip de Belmeis Lord Ashby & Tong and her mother was Maud le Meschines. Her paternal grandfather was Walter de Belmeis; her maternal grandparents were William le Meschines and Cecily De ROMILLY. She had a half-brother named Roger de Mortimer.
