His paternal grandparents were Hugh X de la marche de Lusignan and Isabella Taillefer Cts of Angoulême; his maternal grandparents were Pierre I de Dreux Mauclerc Ct of Brittany and Alice de Thouars de Brittany Dss of Brittany.
