Gerberge of Saxony was born in Nordhausen, Saxony.1 Gerberge of Saxony's father was Henry I the Fowler King of Germany and her mother was Matilda von Ringelheim. Her paternal grandparents were Otto the Illustrious of Saxony King of Germany and Hedwige of Germany; her maternal grandparents were Theudebert (Dietrich) von Duke of Saxony and Ludmilla Ragnhildis von Friesland. She had two brothers and a sister, named Henry I the Quarrelsome, Otto I the Great and Hadwig. She died in Reims, Marne, France.1 General Notes
