Susannah was born in 1793. Susannah's father was John Stanley and her mother was Catherine Elizabeth Stanley. Her paternal grandparents were Zachariah Stanley and Susannah Mendenhall; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Stanley and Catherine Hilton. She had seven brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Joel, John, Daniel, Jeremiah, Abijah, Samuel, Permelia, Catherine, Rachael, Betsy and Phebe.-
