Martha Brown was born on March 15th, 1924. Martha Brown's father was Richard Brown Saunders and her mother was Caroline Kirkland Ruffin. Her paternal grandparents were Edmund Archer Saunders and Martha Ann Brown; her maternal grandparents were John Augustine Ruffin and Jane Cary Harrison. She had two brothers and a sister, named Richard Ruffin, Edmund Harrison and Carol Harrison. She was the second oldest of the four children.-
