Bessy C. Ruffin 
Bessy C. was born in 1859. Bessy C.'s father was Julian Calx Ruffin and her mother was Charlotte Stockdale Meade. Her paternal grandparents were Edmund Ruffin and Susan Travis; her maternal grandparents were John Everard Meade and Rebecca Wormeley Beverley. She had two brothers and a sister, named Meade, Edmund Sumter and Jane. She was the second youngest of the four children.-
