William L. was born in 1838. William L.'s father was James Poor and his mother was Lavinia J. ?. His paternal grandparents were Robert Poor and Elizabeth Mimms. He had three brothers and five sisters, named James E., Dewitt C., Romulus S., Mary C., Sarah I., Laura L., Martha W. and Virginia S.. He was the third oldest of the nine children.-
