Mollie Evelyn was born in April 1910. Mollie Evelyn's father was Henry Marshall Petty and her mother was Annie Marie Kent. Her paternal grandparents were William Crittendon Petty and Sallie B. Routt; her maternal grandparents were E. Kent and S. ?. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Henry Marshall, William Aylor, Katie Alberta and Maxine Kent. She was the second oldest of the five children.
