Grace Childress Payne

Grace Childress was born on May 17th, 1915. Grace Childress' father was William Winston Payne and her mother was Mary Lee Jordan. Her paternal grandparents were James Monroe Payne and Nancy Catherine Childress; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Spotswood Jordan and Lavinia Hughson. She had five brothers and a sister, named Joseph Monroe, Marion Lee, Louis Leake, Clarence, Raymond Winston and Lucille Mae. She was the third youngest of the seven children.
