Carrie Lee was born on October 29th, 1898. Carrie Lee's father was William Barrett Payne and her mother was Rosalla Thurston. Her paternal grandparents were Barrett George Washington Payne and Martha Ann Humphries; her maternal grandparents were Benjamin Lewis Thurston and Mary E. ?. She had two brothers and a sister, named Barrett George, James Marvin and Juliette Ellen. She was the oldest of the four children.-
