Richard was born about 1394 in Raby, Durham, England. Richard's father was Ralph of Westmoreland Neville and his mother was Joan Beaufort. His paternal grandparents were John de Neville and Maud de Percy; his maternal grandparents were John of Gaunt Plantagenet and Catherine Roet. He had twelve brothers and ten sisters, named Henry, Thomas, Cuthbert, Robert, William, John, George, Edward, Richard, John, George, Thomas, Catherine, Joan, Eleanor, Anne, Cecille, Catherine, Eleanor, Alice, Joan and Margaret. He had two half-brothers and six half-sisters, named John, Ralph, Alice, Margaret, Matilda, Philippe, Elizabeth and Mary. He died on December 30th, 1460 in Wakefield, Yorkshire, England of decapitation after battle of Wakefield.-
