McNeill and Catherine Cameron; his maternal grandparents were John Henry Pryor and Margaret Gaines. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Alexander, John Pryor, Hector, Pryor, Malcolm, Margaret, Henrieta, Catherine and Eliza S.. He was the second oldest of the ten children.-
