Anna Barbara's father was Daniel McCarty and her mother was Elizabeth Pope. Her paternal grandparents were Dennis McCarty and Elizabeth Billington; her maternal grandparents were Humphrey Pope and Elizabeth Hawkins. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Daniel, Dennis, Thaddeus, Billington, ?, Katherine, Sarah and Winifred. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named William, Edward, Elizabeth and Mary.-
