Her paternal grandparents were Joel Lipscomb and Mary ?; her maternal grandparents were Thomas MackGehee and Ann Baytop. She had three brothers and five sisters, named John, William, Thomas, Mary, Sarah, Susannah, Anna and Agnes. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.-
