Mary Ann was born on August 18th, 1839. Mary Ann's father was James Richard Harlow and her mother was Rebecca B. White. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Harlow and Susannah ?; her maternal grandfather was John White. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Lucian Minor, Richard Field, Thomas Gates, Philip Henry, James Garland, John W., Susan Jane and Frances Elizabeth. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.-
