James Clifton Childress 
James Clifton was born on May 4th, 1868 in Albemarle Co., VA. James Clifton's father was James Clifton Childress and his mother was Sophronia Eliza Tapscott. His maternal grandparents were William Hill Tapscott and Eliza Carr Childress. He had two brothers and two sisters, named William Henry, Samuel, Virginia Elizabeth and Nancy Hammer. He was the youngest of the five children.-
