Benjah was born about 1816.  Benjah's father was Augustine Butler and his mother was Nancy Crews.  His paternal grandparents were Nathan Butler and Pricilla Anthony; his maternal grandparents were William Crews and Ursula ?. He had a brother and five sisters, named James M., Maria, Rosanna, Sarah Haley, Mary Ann and Nancy.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  He died on March 9th, 1892.
