Oris was born about 1872. Oris' father was Edward Levi Blankenship and her mother was Priscilla Peerman. Her paternal grandparents were Rowland Blankenship and Martha Butler. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Ernest, Bruce Harlbert, Mattie, Virginia Mae, Bertha and Alpha. She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.-
