Zarilla Lay

Zarilla was born about 1848 in Mississippi, USA.¹ Zarilla's father was *Jessie G Lay and her mother was *Barbara Cooke. Her paternal grandparents were Amos Sr Lay and *Sarah Otterson; her maternal grandparents were *Nelson Mordecai Cooke and *Nancy Esther McGee. She had a brother and twelve sisters, named John A, *Martha Ann, Martha, Terilla E., Mary Jane, Charlotte, Sarah, Frances, Caroline, Emma, Alice, Ellen and Emily. She was the seventh youngest of the fourteen children.
