    Daeron I, known as the Young Dragon, was the eldest son of Aegon III and the eighth king to sit the Iron Throne. He ascended to the throne at the age of 14 and is famous for conquering Dorne.
    
    The eldest son of Aegon III, Daeron is handsome and dashing. He ascended the throne at fourteen years of age, after conquering Dorne and gaining repute for being a canny warrior.  He named his uncle Viserys as his Hand of the King.
    
    Daeron later wrote the book "Conquest of Dorne" about his achievement. The book was known for its style and simplicity, but Daeron exaggerated the numbers of his foes in the book to make his conquest seem greater.  The conquest was undone in a fortnight when a clever trap killed Lord Tyrell, the Steward that Daeron had left to rule Dorne.
    
    Lord Tyrell's death sparked a great uprising that overthrew most of the conquest, and Daeron lost forty thousand men trying to hold Dorne.  The battle culminated in his own death at the age of eighteen.
