King Jaehaerys Targaryen I

    King Jaehaerys I was the first-born child of King Aenys I. For unknown reasons, his uncle, Maegor I, took the Iron Throne before him.  After Maegor's death without issue, Jaehaerys took the throne.
    
    Jaehaerys inherited from his uncle's reign a war with the Faith Militant.  Maegor had used brutal methods to eradicate the rebellion, such as placing bounties on the heads of all members of the Faith Militant, but the rebellion had continued.  Jaehaerys pacified the rebellion with the offer of amnesty for all participants and the disbanding of the Faith Militant. This act earned him the name "The Conciliator".
    
    Jaehaerys was young when he came to the throne and ruled for over five decades, bringing to the realm a time of great peace.  He was aided in his rule by his beloved sister, the adored Queen consort, Good Queen Alysanne, who convinced Jaehaerys to abolish the lord's right to the first night.  They were both assisted by Jaehaerys' handpicked Hand, Septon Barth, a smith's son who served him for 40 years.
    
    In the first years of his reign, it was Jaehaerys' wont to travel all over the realm.  When he came to Winterfell to discuss court matters with his Warden of the North, he brought with him Queen Alysanne, six dragons, and half his court.  It was during his reign that the Night's Watch castle, Deep Lake, was paid for by his wife's jewels and built by the men Jaehaerys sent north.
    
    Jaehaerys was succeeded on the Iron Throne by his grandson Viserys I.
