Christian was born in 1842.  Christian's father was Tobias Oftebro and his mother was <Unknown>.  His paternal grandparents were Villum Christian Henriksen Oftebro and Gunhild Tollaksdatter Oftebro (Rom). He had two brothers and six sisters, named Tobias, Ole, Gunhild, Karen, Anna, Anna, Maria and Katrine.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 46 in 1888.
