John Thomas was born in 1856.  John Thomas' father was Samuel Chessor and his mother was Evaline Coble.  His paternal grandfather was James William Chessor and his paternal grandmother is Bessie Cavender; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Peter Coble and Jemima. He had three brothers and nine sisters, named James, Jesse Adam, Adam J., Mima, Polly A., Nan, Sally B., Agnes, Eliza, Susan M., Rosa M. and Viola.  He was the tenth oldest of the thirteen children.  He died at the age of 77 in 1933.
