Rachel was born on October 2nd, 1724 in Staten Island, Richmond, New York, United States.  Rachel's father was Nathaniel Brittain and her mother was Elizabeth Gerritsen.  Her maternal grandparents were Gerrit Gerritsen and Neesje Pieterse Marselis. She had nine brothers and four sisters, named Nathaniel, Richard, Abraham, Richard, John, William, Abraham, <Unknown>, <Unknown>, Alice, Sarah, <Unknown> and <Unknown>.  She died at the age of 89 on February 14th, 1814.
