Ole was born in 1748 in Gloppestad i Gloppen.  Ole's father was Gunder Rasmusson and his mother was Inger Jonsdotter.  His paternal grandparents were Rasmus Antonson and Kari Olsdotter. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Jon, Rasmus, Abel, Peder, Kari and Marte.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 59 in 1807 in Eide i Gloppen.
