Kathleen Virginia was born on May 14th, 1941 in De Aar. Kathleen Virginia's father was Edward John van Blerk and her mother was Petronella Heigan. Her paternal grandparents were Carel Johannes van Blerk and Ellen Mary Ann Jarrard (van Blerk). She had four brothers and a sister, named Edward John, Douglas Trevor, Rodney Carl, Cedric Eugene and Cynthia Ellen. She is the oldest of the six children.-
