Cynthia Ellen was born on October 20th, 1942 in De Aar. Cynthia Ellen's father was Edward John van Blerk and her mother was Petronella Heigan. Her paternal grandparents were Carel Johannes van Blerk and Ellen Mary Ann Jarrard (van Blerk). She had four brothers and a sister, named Edward John, Douglas Trevor, Rodney Carl, Cedric Eugene and Kathleen Virginia. She is the second oldest of the six children.-
