Aletta Hendrina Henrietta was born on December 4th, 1864 in Paarl.  Aletta Hendrina Henrietta's father was Albertus Daniel Johannes van Blerk and her mother was Margaretha Magdalena Nieuwoudt (van Blerk).  Her paternal grandparents were Johannes Petrus van Blerk and Geertruida Elizabeth Louw (van Blerk); her maternal grandparents were Gerrit Nieuwoudt and Gertrude (Nieuwoudt). She had six brothers and four sisters, named Johannes Pretus Isaak, Gerrit Nieuwoudt, Albertus Daniel Johannes, Isaak Christiaan, Jacobus Johannes, Nicolaas Willem, Magdelena Johanna, Gertruida Elizabeth, Margaritha Magdalena and Margaretha Berrendina.  She was the youngest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 35 on August 12th, 1900 in Wakkerstroom, Mpumalanga.
