Elizabeth was born in 1835 in Marden, Kent.  Elizabeth's father was William STANLEY and her mother was Lucy BOORMAN.  Her paternal grandparents were Zebulon STANLEY and Ann SHAW. She had four brothers and a sister, named William, Stephen, Alfred, James Thomas and Louisa.  She was the third oldest of the six children.
