Jane was born in 1855 in Pembroke Dock, Wales, UK.  Jane's father was George Frederick Wellington SCOTT and her mother was Mary Howard Elford TREVENA.  Her paternal grandparents were William SCOTT and Lavinia. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Frederick, John, George Frederick, Henry, Lavinia and Mary.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.
