Mary was born in 1719 in Boughton Malherbe, Kent.  Mary's father was John PETIT and her mother was Sarah RANSLEY. She had a brother and four sisters, named William, Sarah, Ann, Elizabeth and Susanna.  She was the oldest of the six children.
