George was born in 1722 in Lenham, Kent.  George's father was John DENCE and his mother was Elisabeth LEWIS.  His paternal grandparents were Robert DENCE and Elizabeth. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Lewis, Elizabeth, Martha and Mary.  He was the youngest of the six children.
