John was born about 1837 in Chart Sutton, Kent, England.1   John's father was George Tong BOULDEN and his mother was Susannah WELLS.  His paternal grandparents were George BOULDEN and Sarah STANLEY; his maternal grandparents were John WELLS and Sarah WATERMAN. He had two brothers and three sisters, named George, John, Eliza, Harriet and Mary Ann.  He died in 1839 in Maidstone District.
