Dennis was born in 1835 in Boughton Monchelsea, Kent.  Dennis' father was Thomas Tongue BOULDEN and his mother was Sarah BANKS.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Tonge BOULDEN and Elizabeth PEIRCE. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas Tong, David, George Robert, Sarah and Esther.  He was the third youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 53 in 1888 in Maidstone District.
