James was born in 1865 in Bridgwater, Somerset.  James' father was James BOARD and his mother was Ellen JARVIS.  His paternal grandparents were James BOARD and Sarah; his maternal grandfather was Robert JARVIS. He had two brothers and two sisters, named John Sydney, Sidney Robert, Ellen and Charlotte Ann.  He was the second oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 60 on September 26th, 1925 in Bridgwater District.
